Job Description

Our Client is revolutionizing the CFO office by building audit-ready AI accountants. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Backend/Platform Engineer to join our early-stage team and play a pivotal role in developing the core shared backend and platform layer for our AI agents. You will be instrumental in building the foundational components that enable our agents to orchestrate complex financial workflows, manage context, ensure verification, provide robust observability, and maintain secure data infrastructure.

This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of AI in finance, working on systems where correctness, reliability, and auditability are paramount. You will collaborate closely with a talented team and have direct impact on the product and company's success. If you are a builder with a passion for distributed systems, data infrastructure, and high-correctness backend engineering, we encourage you to apply.

Requirements

Critical Requirements

  • Strong backend/platform engineering experience in production languages such as Python, Go, Java, or Rust.
  • Proven experience building shared infrastructure, distributed systems, data platforms, workflow engines, or high-correctness backend systems.
  • Ability to reason about agent orchestration, context systems, evaluation frameworks, verification processes, and production reliability.
  • Demonstrated high-agency and a proactive approach to identifying and solving technical challenges.
  • Ability to work full-time on-site in New York City.

Important Requirements

  • Experience designing and building abstractions for agents, workflow orchestration, retrieval/context systems, evaluation frameworks, observability, or developer tooling.
  • Familiarity with financial systems, accounting workflows, audit/compliance requirements, ERP integrations, or fintech infrastructure.
  • Experience with observability, replay, lineage, permissions, and audit-grade systems.

Nice to Have Requirements

  • Domain experience in finance/accounting areas such as close, revenue recognition, cash management, reporting, audit, controls, tax, payroll, or treasury.
  • Experience integrating with financial systems like ERPs, banks, billing platforms, payroll providers, CRMs, contract management systems, spreadsheets, email, or Slack.
  • Experience with production AI agents, context engineering, retrieval augmented generation (RAG), evaluation frameworks, verification systems, or guardrail systems.
  • Frontend development comfort is a plus, but not a primary requirement.
